iPray, Stay Away.
Im thoroughly disappointed in this new update. Ive used iPray for about 4 years, until I switched to a new Apple account on my new phone and lost my previous apps. My wife bought the app for me as a gift and I was thrilled to go back to the same functionality I had before.
The new app removes much of the old features that made iPray stand out. The redesign is beautiful, but at the cost of functionality, Im not recommending it to anyone.
A couple of things that could be fixed (that were already perfectly fine in the previous version):
1. Display the time of the next prayer on the front screen, not just a countdown.
2. FIX THE COMPASS AND LOCATION. Its glitchy and makes it impossible to find the right direction/city (when it cant detect your location, manual input is so flawed and hard to use. Missing cities. Please consider using Google maps API or something). It also used to show you the degrees where the qibla was, so if the app glitches you could jot down the degrees and use your compass app or keep it in mind for using a physical compass. It would also show the direction of the sun and the moon on the compass itself, which is very useful for moonsighting and double checking if the qibla is correct.
3. Too many swipes are needed to get to different screens. Make a swipe left (like you had before) and move moon phases to the left of the home screen. Make a swipe up or down for the important Islamic dates. Makes the user experience more streamlined.
In summary, I wouldnt recommend this app. The developers need to start listening to users complaints and bring back the better functionality. Stop giving 5 Stars if you have criticisms of the app. Give it a 1 Star until they fix it or else theyll have no incentive to change. In the mean time Id recommend Athan, although it has many fluff features that arent necessary and could be separate apps like restaurant search and duas. Thats why I loved iPray, it had the most important things that go together
An Islamic calendar
Moon phases
A qibla locator
Prayer times
Bring that back.
